A rather dramatic event for this home was the removal of a 25-foot-wide section, right across the center. The front porch was removed and a hole was dug, large enough for a Bobcat operator to continue enlarging and deepening the space to create a new basement.

The small Bobcat excavator machine was used to carefully remove and push material without damaging the existing structure. Because the Bobcat could efficiently work inside all of the new basement area, the large excavator was able to stay in one place above and remove material from the center of the space without added damage to landscaping or structures.

When the new basement walls were formed and poured, the Bobcat machine was craned out of the pit and work began on framing a new two-story structure.
